Volunteers

Celebrations are a time-honored CHS tradition that helps families get to know one another and raise funds for the School. Celebration hosts are responsible for sponsoring and planning the event.

The Celebrations Chair meets with the advancement team in the spring to help schedule the celebrations for the upcoming school year. During the school year, the Chair helps with the marketing of the events and occasionally supports hosts in event planning.

Annual Fund Chairs are asked to pen the Annual Fund letter, attend 3-4 events throughout the year in support of the Annual Fund, and make direct asks to current families in the late winter/spring in order to achieve 100% participation.

Fall Festival Chairs meet weekly with the Director of Advancement from the beginning of the school year until the Festival in October in order to plan the event. They typically volunteer the day before and the day of the event as well.

Teacher Appreciation Week in May includes breakfast, lunch, and other treats for the faculty. Chairs organize donations for food, secure volunteers, and coordinate a special gift from the students.

Grade Level Reps have a variety of duties throughout the year, one of the most important being communication with the families and teachers in the class. Reps also coordinate the Halloween and Valentine’s Day parties, organize (but not necessarily host) potlucks, and support service learning projects.

The Family Association Executive Committee is comprised of several Chair roles including: Chair, Vice Chair, Grade Level Rep Chair, and DEIC Chair. The committee meets monthly to discuss how to strengthen the home-school connection. They also plan 2-3 social events a year and coordinate teacher gifts.

CHS buddy families help to welcome and transition new students and families to our CHS community. Families plan get-togethers over the summer with their buddies at the CHS playground or a nearby park and attend CHS-sponsored events for new families. They also answer questions new families may have about the start of school or CHS in general.

Board members support CHS by attending monthly meetings during which they provide feedback and support regarding strategic decisions and planning. Some members may also join Committees that meet separately.

Circulation volunteers help check in, organize, and reshelve books. Circulation volunteers commit to weekly volunteering, typically in the morning between 8 and 8:45. There are opportunities to support the library with less of a regular commitment, including wrapping new books being added to the collection and supporting the spring book fair.
