Recognizing that young readers' abilities are naturally varied during the early childhood years, Concord Hill School is committed to meeting learners where they are and providing the support and enrichment necessary to help them reach their fullest potential. The Reading Resource Specialist is instrumental in supporting this goal for our Kindergarten through Third Grade students. Concord Hill School's goal is to have all students become successful readers who embrace reading for pleasure and as a source for learning.
The Reading Resource Specialist formally assesses all readers in First through Third Grade three times per year and helps teachers create ability-based groupings for daily reading instruction. The Reading Specialist supports all readers in Kindergarten through Third Grade as needed, using a variety of programs including Phono-Graphix and Leveled Literacy Intervention, often acting as a third reading teacher in the classrooms during reading time.
