At Concord Hill School, helping and engaging with our community is an important part of our social curriculum, as we teach our children the importance of thinking of others and giving back. For many years, our entire community of students, parents, and teachers has gathered once a month to pack lunches for our neighbors. We are excited to announce three new partnerships to expand and enrich our community service outreach at CHS:
FEEDING OUR COMMUNITY
Through our new partnership with DC Central Kitchen, each month all students will be involved in making lunches to be delivered to the underserved in our community. All parents will be asked to volunteer at this community-wide initiative throughout the year, and a member of the DC Central Kitchen staff will be speaking to us at the Friday Morning Meeting on September 14, 2018, to tell us more about their programs.
We will also be working with two other wonderful causes this year. Students in Preprimary and Primary will be creating decorations for seasonal bulletin boards at the So Others Might Eat campus downtown, and our Kindergarten–Third Grade students will be visiting a local assisted-living facility to sing during the winter holidays. Details to come here and in Thursday Messages!
