Job Description
Concord Hill School is seeking an experienced, enthusiastic Long-Term PE Substitute Teacher to cover family leave starting at the end of January for 6 weeks. This position runs Monday through Friday, 10:30 am to 2:30 pm, totaling 20 hours per week. The role involves leading physical education classes for children ages 3 to 10, fostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment that promotes physical fitness, teamwork, and fun.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and lead physical education lessons that promote skill development, fitness, and healthy habits for children ages 3-10 in collaboration with the Associate Head of School for Teaching and Learning
- Adapt lessons to meet the diverse needs, skill levels, and physical abilities of all students.
- Foster physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship through a variety of engaging activities and games.
- Ensure students’ safety by following best practices in movement, safety protocols, and equipment use.
- Maintain and organize PE equipment.
Qualifications:
- Significant experience working with children ages 3 to 10 in a physical education or similar setting.
- Strong understanding of best practices in physical education, including safe movement, gross and fine motor skills development, and age-appropriate activities.
- Excellent classroom management skills to create a structured, positive, and fun learning environment.
- Ability to adapt lessons to meet the diverse needs and abilities of young children.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills for building positive relationships with students, colleagues, and families.
